Hi Geoffrey,
Welcome to planDisney!
I am so glad you are considering a visit to the Walt Disney World Resort. My family has navigated the parks and resorts with one or two of us having mobility issues. We have been quite pleased with the
services for guests with disabilities. There are a few suggestions that I would make.
First, consider if you are bringing your own wheel chair or electric conveyance vehicle (ECV). If you do not wish to travel with one, there are
wheel chair rentals and
ECV rentals in the theme parks. You could also have a wheelchair or ECV delivered to your resort hotel through Scooterbug, a Walt Disney World Resort featured provider.
If you decided to rent a wheelchair or ECV remember that those are provided on a first, come, first serve basis so I recommend getting to the park early to request one. I also suggest using the
Guides for Guests with Disabilities. The information included has been quite helpful for my family, particularly information on wheelchair locations.
If you do not plan to use a wheelchair or ECV, you may need to inquire about
Disability Access Service (DAS). This service is intended for people who cannot tolerate long lines for the attractions. If you are able to register for this service, it allows you to request return times for rides. Once registered for the service, you can use the
My Disney Experience Mobile App to request those attraction return times. With DAS, you can also make advanced selections for some attractions.
Geoffrey, as you continue to plan, I hope this information is useful. If you decided to request the Disability Access Service, remember to register before your trip! Doing so allows you to make those advanced selections for attractions.
Magic and memories.
