What do I do the morning of the marathon if I stay at a hotel that’s not in Disney world? How do I get to the start line? Can I uber?

    Hiya Sasha,
Thank you so much for stopping by planDisney with your Marathon Weekend question—and a huge congratulations on signing up! You’re about to experience one of the most magical race weekends on Earth. There’s truly nothing like a runDisney event—the energy, the costumes, the character sightings, and the incredible community of runners cheering one another on from start to finish. It’s miles of smiles and pure Disney magic every step of the way!

Now, let’s lace up and run right into your question!  If you’re not staying at a Disney Resort, I recommend using a rideshare service or driving yourself to the start line. When I participated in the Wine & Dine Half Marathon, I drove to the start and found it super easy to navigate—just be sure to allow yourself plenty of time for traffic and parking before the race begins. It’s also worth checking with your hotel to see if they’re offering any shuttle transportation to the event. While not guaranteed, some nearby hotels do offer special arrangements during runDisney weekends.

And once you’ve crossed that finish line and earned your well-deserved bling, don’t forget to celebrate your accomplishment in true Disney fashion! One of my favorite traditions is heading to Magic Kingdom Park to take post-race photos in front of Cinderella Castle—it’s the perfect way to commemorate your victory. Be sure to ask the PhotoPass photographers if there are any Magic Shots available; sometimes, you might even catch Mickey or Minnie in their race-day gear (subject to availability).

Sasha, I hope this helps you plan for a smooth race day and an unforgettable weekend filled with magical miles, joyful memories, and maybe even a few character high-fives along the course! If you have any additional questions, feel free to visit us again.

    See ya real soon,

    Christina
