Howdy Karyn!
Oh Karyn, you’ve been missing out. Fort Wilderness is SO MUCH FUN! You do not need to rent a golf cart to get around the campground, but they are my favorite part. Every campsite or cabin is a short walk to a bus stop where you can catch a Disney bus to take you wherever you want to go on property. While golf carts aren’t necessary, they are very convenient. You can hop in and go wherever, whenever you like. Taking the bus will add transportation time as they stop at multiple loops on the way to your destination and you might have to transfer depending on where you want to go. One of my favorite things to do at Fort Wilderness at night is to “joy ride” in my golf cart and gaze at all the campers who have decorated their camp site with decorations and lights. To reserve a golf cart, call (407) 824-2742. They can be reserved up to a year in advance.
There is a fee for riding ponies. At last check, the fee was $5 and they are open from 10am-5pm. These pony rides are for ages 2 and older and under 45 inches. This is probably the only thing I have not done at Fort Wilderness. Must add it to the list for my son! Prices and times are subject to change.
Don’t forget your marshmallows!
