Hi Matthew!
Welcome to planDisney!
Disney’s Genie is the new and exciting free service that assists you in planning the perfect Disney day. You can enter your ride preferences, locations you'd like to dine at, and even general interests such as princesses or Mickey and friends. One of the things that makes this service extra magical is that the system will use real-time data on the day you are in the park to formulate your plan. Genie takes into account current and anticipated wait times, park attendance, and even the weather!
I’m sorry you are having a struggle with Disney’s Genie. I have a few ideas for you that might help. First, it’s important to know that there isn’t a whole lot to do with Disney Genie before arrival. You can enter your attraction preferences, but you won’t get a plan for the day until you arrive. If you’ve purchased Genie+ as an add-on, know that you won’t be able to select your attractions until the day of your visit. Genie will give and alter your plans on the go based on what is happening in the park at that moment, rather than create a static plan months in advance. For example, if Genie originally recommended you experience the Tomorrowland Speedway at 11 AM, but then at 10:45 a lightning storm begins, Genie will change your plans and make a different recommendation.
First, make sure you have updated to the most recent version of the
My Disney Experience Mobile App. I believe the most recent update was just a few days ago. Next, you may want to try closing or “killing” the App altogether and reopening it to see if that works. Check to be sure your
Park Pass Reservations are showing. To do this, select the three horizontal lines in the lower right corner of the mobile app. Then select the option for “Future Plans.” You should see your Park Pass Reservations on the next page. If you don’t see them, I would check for them on the desktop version, or try to make new Disney Park Pass Reservations. If you see your Park Pass Reservations, you should be able to go to “My Genie Day,” to enter your preferences. When you open that option, it will automatically take you to today. You’ll want to take the option to “Change Day” and select the day in the future for which you have a Park Pass Reservation. Genie will then prompt you to select preferences for that day. You won’t be able to select a day that you don’t have a reservation.
If you are still struggling, there is usually an option to chat with a Cast Member from the App, and perhaps they can assist further. This should be available during Florida daytime hours, so perhaps check in the evening if you are in the United Kingdom.
I hope this helps, Matthew! Sending you pixie dust for a magical visit to the
Walt Disney World Resort!
