Hi, we’ve learned that our 2yr old is lactose intolerant. We have the Disney Dining plan for the 2 adults and our 4yr old. Wondering how Disney handles situations like this since we don’t have a meal plan for the 2yr old. Do I need to get her one? Thanks!

    Hi Molli!

It sounds like you are getting ready for an awesome trip to Walt Disney World Resort. As the mom to a little one with food allergies, I know how challenging it can be to accommodate dietary restrictions during vacation. In our experience, the Chefs and Cast Members have always done a fantastic job at making sure our little one has safe and tasty dining experiences.

The Disney Dining Plan will be such a nice addition to your vacation because it's so nice to enjoy the incredible dining experiences at Walt Disney World Resort, while paying for the majority of your dining expenses in advance! Since your little one is 2 years old, you can't get a dining plan for her. Generally, little ones under 3 years old can order their own meals or share with someone else. If you will be enjoying family-style meals or buffets, then your little one will be able to enjoy her own plate during the meal.

Since you will need to accommodate her special diet, I recommend that you add her dietary restriction to your dining reservations by calling (407) 939-1947 and let your server know of her dietary restriction as well. At all dining locations, you can speak to the Chef or Manager to get assistance in selecting safe meals that your little one can share with someone else or that she can order on her own. When you are ready to pay, you are free to pay with a mix of dining plan entitlements and another form of payment since your littlest one doesn't have a dining plan.

If you have additional questions about accommodating your little one's diet during your vacation, be sure to check out the Special Dietary Requests page. And as always, come back to see us at the Disney Parks Moms Panel if we can help you finalize your plans! T-T-F-N, ta ta for now!
