we’ve never been to disney and want to do animal kingdom this year. my son will be 3.5 and should be 40” tall by time of travel. i know he cannot ride the avatar ride but saw the others. how can i best plan my day there wo spending all day on line

    Jambo Melissa!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I am so excited that you and your son are going to be visiting the Walt Disney World Resort for the first time! There is something so extraordinary about seeing Disney through the eyes of a child.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park is an excellent place for kids. It is one of my children’s favorite parks. Not only are there a lot of great attractions and entertainment options, but the wildlife is so incredible. We have spent countless hours exploring exhibits, watching birds fly, and experiencing the African Savanna on Kilimanjaro Safaris.

To make the most out of your time and cut down on your wait times, make sure to use FastPass+. This service lets you choose a return time for up to 3 attractions in a Theme Park each day. If you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, you can select your FastPass+ choices starting 60 days prior to check-in, and if you are staying at an offsite location, FastPass+ selections begin 30 days in advance of your arrival. You will need valid Theme Park tickets and can choose your FastPass+ selections on your My Disney Experience mobile app, My Disney Experience planning page, or any FastPass+ kiosk in the park.

If I were choosing attractions that are great for kids, my top three choices that I would select a FastPass+ return time for are: Kilimanjaro Safaris, Na’vi River Journey, and Festival of the Lion King. Here are some other experiences that are fantastic for kids: The Boneyard which is an outdoor play area themed like a dinosaur excavation, Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail and Maharajah Jungle Trek which are walking trails where you can observe animals in their natural habitat, TriceraTop Spin, and taking a ride on Wildlife Express Train to experience Rafiki’s Planet Watch.

I hope that you and your son have a magical time!
