We've always visited WDW in hot months and chosen resorts for the pools! We are thinking about a winter trip now. What are the best resorts when you don't take into account the pool factor? We have a young child and will be on a budget of course! Thx!

    Hi Jaime!

Winter is a great time to travel to Walt Disney World, where the Florida weather can be very mild even during the coldest months of the year.  We have had the opportunity to swim at Walt Disney World Resorts in every month of the year!  Disney Resort pools are heated, so if the weather is warm enough, you can still enjoy a dip...so be sure to pack your swimming trunks, just in case!

However, it is also possible to hit Florida during a cold snap, so be prepared to dress in layers for those days that start off and end up a bit chilly.  I've also been to Disney when the weather was so cold I didn't think it would be possible to ever get warm again!

One of our favorite Disney Resorts in which to stay in colder months is the Animal Kingdom Lodge.  Here, you can enjoy watching the animals on the savannahs surrounding this beautiful resort any time of year.

We also enjoy golfing, so we love Saratoga Springs Resort & Old Key West Resort.  Another bonus at Saratoga Springs Resort is that it is very close to Downtown Disney Marketplace, so you will be near shopping and entertainment which is within walking distance or a short boat ride.

I hope these are some choices you will consider for your winter vacation in Walt Disney World.  Have a wonderful time!
