how wet do you get on the kali river rapids? we have a party of six ladies and do not want ruined hair/makeup and wet clothes at the park. A little mist is fine, but should we expect big slashes of water? thank you for the help!

    Hi, Alyssa!

Oh, my, you ask a very good question!

The signs around Kali River Rapids read "You will get wet; you may get soaked"...and they mean it!

In all of my 30+ trips to Disney's Animal Kingdom, all of which included at least one or two rides on Kali, I've NEVER been dry when we're finished the ride.  We've determined that whoever sits next to my 6'1", 200 lb husband gets soaked, and if there is another gentleman in the "raft" with us, who is of similar stature, the individuals next to him are not safe, either! Your party of six will surely be placed in a raft with another group, so you don't know who will be on the ride with you until the moment of truth!

There are many individuals, however, who wear rain ponchos on this ride specifically so that hair / makeup / clothing remains dry no matter what.  I suggest that you simply don the poncho and put your heads down when the wave of water is about to wash over your "raft"!

Kali River Rapids is truly a wonderful attraction; I'd hate for you to miss it because you might get too wet...you ladies will be laughing for years about your ride, I'm sure!  Another suggestion is to plan on riding this adventure last, just before you leave the park.  This way, you'll have had all of your photo opportunities prior to getting doused, and can freshen up back at your hotel.

Have a wonderful time in Disney's Animal Kingdom!  Be sure to get a group photo in front of the Tree of Life!  It's a truly stunning backdrop to your ladies day in the park!
