We went to WDW last year. It was great. We plan to be in Southwest Florida this summer and thought we might sneak up for a surprise for a day. It that practical? What advice would you give?

    Hi Brad!

Sounds like a fun adventure! What a great way to sneak in some magic into your summer! Depending on when you visit, you might even catch the Summer Nightastic! events!

I think one day is feasible, but you'll need to prepare somewhat. One thing to keep in mind is that you probably won't get to do everything...that's hard even when on a week long trip! If you are fine with this going into your getaway, then you should be able to enjoy it!

Another is thing to keep in mind, especially if the drive is long for you, is that you should rent a room for the night. The summer sun can really tucker you out, and I would hate to imagine a long drive back to where you will be staying for your South FL visit after a day playing at Walt Disney World! Value resorts can be an economical way to stay close by, and they even allow you to take advantage of Extra Magic Hours for some added time in the parks. If you can plan it so that your visit coincides with an evening Extra Magic Hour day, then stay the night; followed by a late morning with time for breakfast and check out, it might leave you with enough of your Disney fever satisfied to hold you over until your next trip.

It might seem like a stretch, but being from South Florida, I've learned how to do a day at Disney to keep that Disney fever under control this way! You really can have fun in just one day, just prepare to want to plan your next vacation before you even leave (and keep an eye out for a bounce back offer in case you do stay the night at a Disney resort).

Let me know if you'd like any more help planning your surprise getaway!
