I went to Disneyland a few years ago. We each had a lanyard with our pass in it. Is that still a good idea? How do you enter rides? Now is my cell phone app with the five tickets included scanned? I don't see how it works. Where in website is info

Hi Tamara! Thanks for visiting planDisney.

Things are handled a little differently at Disneyland Resort now. So you can leave the lanyard at home for this trip. Understandably, you're excited, while also wondering how everything will be handled, and I'm happy to explain. There are no physical admission tickets to scan, so no need to hang onto one or wear a lanyard to keep track of it.

You can use your mobile device to scan into the parks with the Disneyland mobile app. You'll open your tickets on the app and a Cast Member will scan your ticket and the tickets for the rest of your party. They'll take a quick photo of each Guest, which will link the ticket to the Guest. If you have Disney's Genie+ Service, you can also book Lightning Lane Entrance return times and scan into the Lightning Lane Entrance with your mobile device. If you didn't purchase Genie+ when buying your admission tickets, you'll have the option to purchase once you've scanned into the parks for the day. Availability isn't guaranteed and prices are subject to change, but look for the purchase button at the top of the homepage. Tap to begin the transaction.

The app has lots of useful park day tools, including checking wait times, locating Characters, linking Disney's PhotoPass photos, placing Mobile Orders for Food and Beverage or Merchandise, and more! Play around in the app ahead of time, so you're comfortable with it before your park day. It helps make for a smoother start to the morning if you know where all the resources can be found.

There's also a hands-free option for scanning at the parks. You can purchase MagicBand+ for use at Disneyland Resort. Once the bands are paired with your mobile device and assigned to an admission ticket, you can use the band to scan into the parks and Lightning Lane Entrances, rather than using your mobile device at these spots. We used bands for this purpose on our most recent trip, and it does limit how much you pull out your mobile device. Plus, they're interactive, lighting up and buzzing along with select Entertainment and Attractions, which adds another layer of fun. Bands are available for sale on shopDisney or can be purchased at select locations in the parks. They have such fun choices available, one for every Guest's personal style.

    I hope this helps!
