Hello, We went on a Disney vacation in January 2017. We received new magic bands (but still the skinnier version, 1.0, I guess). Would they still be valid for a day trip in August?

Hi Michelle, and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel with an excellent question.

I am so glad to hear that you are planning a trip to the Walt Disney World Resort next month. MagicBands are awesome, aren’t they? They are one of my favorite collectibles from my past vacations.

I am happy to tell you that your First Generation MagicBands will still work, as long as they have an active status in My Disney Experience. To check the status of a MagicBand, sign in to your My Disney Experience account and click on they MagicBands and Cards tab. Here you will see a list of all the MagicBands that are associated with your account. If the MagicBand you are planning to use is listed as active, you are all set. Typically, only MagicBands that are lost or missing have an inactive status. The batteries in your MagicBand are good for a little over 2 years, so you will definitely be able to use them during your day trip. Unfortunately, the batteries cannot be replace in a MagicBand. If you have any that are over 2 years old, they may not work properly during your visit. However, if you happen to purchase a custom, special edition or even a limited edition MagicBand, they can be linked to your My Disney Experience account quickly and easily. Enjoy your wonderful trip.

    See ya real soon,
    Andrea
