I went to Disney last year with my kids, husband and my parents. My dad scanned his fingerprint for one of my boys when we were there. We go back to Disney later this year but my dad isn’t coming. Do we scan new fingerprints, or will this be a problem?

Hey there, Meghan, and welcome back to planDisney! Your fall trip to Walt Disney World is just around the corner, and it’s one of my favorite times to visit the parks!

And there’s nothing that screams “It’s Disney Time!” like seeing that magical green circle light up when you scan into the touchpoints at the entrance to each of the Walt Disney World Theme Parks. Your kids are excited. You are excited! Because the anticipation is thick, and the (Disney) world is your oyster! But nothing can bring you back down to earth like getting that dreaded blue circle. You know, the one when your fingerprint just. won’t. SCAN. We do anything to avoid this, so I can totally relate to your family’s strategy of scanning an adult’s fingerprints in place of the kids. Because with my crew of little ones (age 5, 3, and 2) I’m sure I’ll be scanning MY fingerprint instead of their own until they can drive. Anything to help us get into the park more quickly to get straight to the fun!

Meghan, the good news is that every time you activate a new set of Theme Park tickets, you will be asked to scan a new set of fingerprints for everyone in your party. So you will be able to scan your kids’ fingerprints (or your own) to use for the entire trip. So no worries - fingerprints from a past visit will not be linked to your party on this visit.

I hope this helps, Meghan! Let me know if you have more questions while planning your vacation.

You’ve got a friend in me,
