While I am well-versed in all things WDW, I have never been to DLR. We are taking my daughter for her sweet 16 at the end of month. The rep I just spoke to said that you can't charge food and souvenirs around the resort to your room. Is this true??

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Melissa. It is so exciting that you will be visiting the Disneyland Resort for the first time! While there are many similarities between the Walt Disney World Resort and the Disneyland Resort, I think you will discover many uniquely magical things when you visit Walt’s original theme park.

If you are staying at one of the three Disneyland Resort Hotels, you can use your hotel room key to charge meals and merchandise in the parks and at Disney-owned establishments in the Downtown Disney District. These purchases will be charged to the credit card that you have linked to your hotel room. Personally, I always have my wallet and it’s just as easy to charge items using my credit card, but the option does exist if you are a registered Disneyland Resort Hotel Guest.

Since this will be your first visit, I wanted to point out a few things that you just can’t miss that are different than the Walt Disney World Resort. First, plan to spend some time in Cars Land in Disney California Adventure Park. The completely immersive theming in this land is simply breathtaking and tons of fun too! Next, hop aboard some attractions that aren’t available in Orlando like Indiana Jones Adventure, Storybook Land Canal Boats, Alice in Wonderland, Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage, and Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! Further, while both theme parks have Pirates of the Caribbean, the Disneyland Park version is much longer, features more pirates, and even has a second drop. Finally, one of my favorite things about the Disneyland Resort is that many characters freely roam the parks. So keep your eyes peeled as you never know who you might bump into!

I hope this helps. Have a magnificent time at the Happiest Place on Earth!
