Hi Moms, We weill be going to AK in May with a 5 yo and 3 yo. We have reservations at Donald's Safari breakfast at 10 am. What is the best way to plan our day considering we will need afternoon naps?

Hey, Rhandi! Our family will be doing exactly what you're inquiring about next week, and we have two little ones too.

Let's start at the gate. If you can make it to the park 30 minutes prior to park opening, Animal Kingdom does a cool park opening celebration. Then, when the rope drops (park opens,) hang a left around the Tree of Life and head to Africa for Kilimanjaro Safaris. Your 5 year old and 3 year old will love this attraction. The two biggest benefits of making this your first stop is (1) little to no wait and (2) the animals are usually more active and closer to the roads during the early morning tours. When you exit the attraction, check your watch. If it's almost 10:00 a.m., then head over to Tusker House for breakfast. (Awesome choice, by the way!) The Tusker House is in Africa, so you're commute will take about two minutes. If you do have extra time between Kilimanjaro Safaris and your ADR, wander around the Pangini Forest Trail until you need to head over.

After breakfast, check the times guide to see if you can fit in the Festival of the Lion King before heading back to your resort for naps. It's a short diversion on your way to the front of the park.

When you return, try to make it back in time for the parade, which is usually at 3:45 p.m. It's our favorite. Then, pick out a time to see Nemo and let your kids go nuts in Dinoland. Flame Tree Barbeque is nearby for a counter service dinner. Lastly, pat yourself on the back for pulling off an amazing day.
