Hi Sarah,
Congratulations! What exciting news for you! I can tell you from experience that a Walt Disney World vacation is a little different when you are expecting but is still a magical vacation. I became pregnant with my youngest daughter a few weeks after we became passholders for the first time 20+ years ago. I've joked that her love of Disney started in utero during those frequent visits before she was born.
I think you will be surprised at how many rides and attractions remain accessible to you during your pregnancy. On the Walt Disney World website, you can find a list of
all attractions with an advisory for pregnant moms. (Choose 'Expectant Mothers Advisory' in the filters.)
As you might expect, most attractions on the list are roller coasters or thrill rides such as
Expedition Everest,
Space Mountain,
Rock 'n' Roller Coaster and
Avatar Flight of Passage. I wouldn't have thought about concerns on a few of the flagged attractions, such as
Kilimanjaro Safaris (because of sudden stops and rough terrain) and
Tomorrowland Speedway (because of the possibility of bumping by another car).
So here's some unsolicited advice from a mature mom: Stay hydrated. Don't get overly tired. Follow your doctor's instructions. Listen to your body. And use this time to enjoy the rest of your family -- and pamper yourself -- before your little one arrives.
I have fond memories during my pregnancy of sitting on a shady bench in Frontierland, reading a novel, while my husband and older daughter rode
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and of walking down Main Street U.S.A. with my family, talking about how soon we could bring Daughter #2 to visit Mickey.
You may also want to take advantage of the
Baby Care Centers in each of the four theme parks. They are a cool, relaxing spot to put up your feet for a little while and re-energize.
Thanks for your question, Sarah. Please let us know if we can help in any other way as you prepare for your trip. Congratulations again!
Wilma
