    We're only 5 weeks away from our 1st Disney Cruise with our kids, ages 7 & 5. I've been on a non-Disney cruise before and remember the LONG line to board the ship. I'm concerned about my children remaining cooperative in line for that long - any tips?

    Let's take a 'time out" and celebrate the fact that you are on the countdown to your Disney Cruise Line vacation -- YIPPPPPEEEE!  You all are going to have the time of your lives, and I can't wait for you to have your turn to sail.

    Now, back to planning...

    Without knowing your itinerary, I have to tell you that each port is different and each terminal is different.  Plus, depending on which ship you're sailing, your experience within the terminal can vary. If you are sailing out of Port Canaveral on the Disney Dream, I suggest getting to the port terminal as soon as it opens (around 10:30 a.m.).  The sooner you are there to check in -- the more likely you are to experience shorter lines and a sooner boarding time. Plus, just like at Disney Resorts, there are pint-sized places for your little ones to wait complete with fun activities and Disney animated shorts. The Disney Characters even make appearances while guests are waiting to board, and there are outdoor opportunities to take up-close photos of the ship. You can also register your children for the Youth Clubs and talk to the counselors while in the terminal.

    This summer in Barcelona and Vancouver, the terminals aren't exclusive to Disney Cruise Line. Yet, the same guidelines apply. The earlier you arrive, the greater chance you'll have of experiencing shorter lines and an earlier boarding time. As a mom, I would also encourage you to have some handy items in your "bag of tricks" such as snacks, hand-held games, hand sanitizer, books, paper, pencils/pens and a kids' camera.
