We are going the week after Thanksgiving. We will have Deluxe Dining but don't want to be on a real schedule. With the exception of the restaurants we for sure want, should we be able to be spontaneous and still eat at table service restaurants? Thank You!

    Hi Kendra,

You have picked a lovely time of year to visit Walt Disney World.  The theme parks and resorts will be all decked out in their holiday finest and the weather should be lovely, neither too hot or too cold.

Unfortunately, you cannot expect to find availability at table service restaurants without an advance dining reservation (particularly the week after a major holiday).  Rather than count on being entirely spontaneous, here's what I recommend that you do.  Since the best way to get your money's worth out of the Deluxe Dining Plan is to dine at table service restaurants, I suggest that you make reservations for at least two table service restaurants for each day of your vacation when the 180 day window for advance dining reservations opens.  You are welcome to cancel these reservations without penalty as long as you call 24 hours in advance of your reservation. By making these reservations now, you retain the option to dine at these very popular restaurants.  If, however, you find that dining at two (or more) table service restaurants per day is too much food or is keeping you to too much of a schedule, you can call and cancel these reservations as your trip progresses.  Just remember that you need to cancel 24 hours before a scheduled meal.

Let us know if you need suggestions for places to dine.  We love Disney dining questions here at the Moms Panel!

    Best wishes,
    Jill
