Hi there, we have a 2 week holiday booked for august at the AKL but i have read a lot of negative reviews regarding transportation, mainly the 30-40 minute waits for buses as opposed to the 10 minutes as advertised + long journeys to the parks is this true?

    Hi Nigel,

I love the Animal Kingdom Lodge. To be honest, I have waited just as long for a bus from the Grand Floridian, Saratoga Springs or The Contemporary as I have from the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Buses are supposed to come approximately every 15-20 minutes. Sometimes you luck out and the bus bound for the park you are headed to comes around the bend the second you arrive at the bus stop. Other times, it just so happens that you missed one a moment before, and now you'll have to wait a bit for the next one. During a 2 week vacation, I'd venture to guess that you'll experience both of these scenarios.

Yes, the Animal Kingdom Lodge is located a bit of a distance from some of the theme parks (like the Magic Kingdom). Keep in mind that resorts like the Contemporary (which is next to the Magic Kingdom) is located a bit of a distance from the Animal Kingdom Park. ;) All resorts will be closer to some theme parks than others, that is the case with a property as large as Disney World. You'll have a quick commute to the Animal Kingdom Park and will be relatively close to Hollywood Studios and Blizzard Beach.

Rest assured that the beautiful Animal Kingdom Lodge is spectacular. It is a very unique, highly themed  resort. I would love to be in your shoes...ready to spend 2 weeks in such a magical place. Honestly, as long as you approach the week knowing that sometimes you'll have to wait a bit longer than you'd like for a bus (from any where on Disney property, not just from your resort), you'll find yourself pleasantly surprised with how quickly the time flies by as you wait.

    Have a magical vacation,
