Hi! In the wedding package it says it includes 16 guest, I’m assuming they have to purchase a ticket to sail? Are there any deals on booking 18+ people?

Hello there Priscilla, and a very warm wedding welcome to planDisney!

As someone who also got married at sea and had a Disney Wedding of my own last year, I spent quite a bit of time researching what it was like to tie the knot on board with Disney Cruise Line, especially since it was a big part of my journey as a Cast Member and since my husband and I first met at sea sailing out of Port Canaveral! Here are a few things to keep in mind when you're thinking of the guest who will be attending your wedding during your voyage:

    • According to Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings & Honeymoons, the guest count for wedding packages is currently set at 18 - which includes the two of you getting married as well as any vendors you bring on board such as photographers, videographers, officiants or makeup artists. All of these folks will all be required to have their own reservations and accommodations on board; whether you're willing to pay for them all or have them take care of this cost to attend your wedding is up to each couple and their budget!
    • In order to book your Disney Cruise wedding ceremony, you'll just need your reservation in order to begin the process and don't need all of your guests' bookings confirmed right away. It is however a very good idea to make sure that they (and all of your vendors) confirm that they've booked so that this information can be provided to your Disney Wedding Specialist and onboard coordinator.
    • At the present time there aren't any group discounts offered for large guests of guests of Disney cruise weddings, but savvy couples have taken advantage of Special Offers throughout the year and planned around select sailings. This is also where some very savvy seafarers use a travel agent to help organize all of their plans as well as the stateroom bookings for all of their guests, and it's a great idea to know that someone has this taken care of as you prepare for the big day!

Choosing to have a Disney Wedding either onboard one of the ships in the fleet or on the balmy beaches of Disney Castaway Cay can be a great, cost-effective way to save on a reception by having all of the incredible dining options, character experiences and entertainment available to you on your wedding day without the restrictions or additional charges you might encounter when planning your event at Walt Disney World Resort. (However the costs here are placed more on your guests, who'll have to commit to sticking around for the duration of the voyage as opposed to just attending for a day!) You can ask me directly for any additional insight or advice when it comes to planning your wedding on board, and in the meantime I highly recommend checking out the stories of real fellow Disney Wedding couples on the Ever After Blog, Disney Wedding Podcast and planning groups online dedicated to Disney Cruise weddings!
