50th wedding anniversary trip to Animal Kingdom Lodge. We're coming solely to see the giraffes - everything else is secondary. How can I assure a room with a superb "Giraffe View?" Arriving mid day.

    Hi Mark,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for visiting us about your upcoming visit to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge for your 50th Wedding Anniversary! You’re staying in my absolute favourite Walt Disney World Resort hotel for your celebration; it’s also where we stayed when we got married and it was a wonderfully romantic trip.

My two favourite savanna view rooms are the ones overlooking either Arusha savanna (the center of the “U” at Jambo House) or the Sunset savanna (the rooms located on the left side of Jambo house, which look towards Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas - Kidani Village). I’d also recommend requesting a lower floor (2nd or 3rd) in order to see the animals more clearly, as I find that the upper floors tend to have some of their animal “sight lines” interrupted by tree tops. Please note that, although requests aren’t guaranteed, I’m sure that the Cast Members at the Lodge will make every effort to honour your request.

I'd also recommend a dining reservation at one of my favourite Walt Disney World Resort dining locations, Sanaa, for a view of Sunset savanna (and its giraffes) while you dine.

One final tip: don’t be disappointed if, when you arrive mid-day, you don’t immediately see any giraffes or other wildlife when you enter your room. The animals roam around the entire savanna and usually head “backstage” for a few hours throughout the day. They will reappear, usually right before supper, and you’ll be able to watch the giraffes munching on the trees and other treats that have been left for them around the savanna.

    Have a Magical Day,
    Lynne
