Hi Paul! Welcome to planDisney!
Sometimes the stars align and the perfect question comes my way! I'm actually
renting a pontoon boat this weekend at Walt Disney World and I'm excited to finally get the chance to try it out! I have done some extensive research on the rental process and everything the experience entails.
As of today, the only motorized boats available to rent are the Sun Tracker Pontoon boats that seat up to 10 Guests. The boats are in immaculate condition and are always ready for rental at any time. Reservations are not required, so it is on a first-come, first-served basis. Since there are multiple locations to rent from, you should not have any issues throughout the day getting out on the water.
Currently, the only two locations to rent boats from in the Magic Kingdom Resort area are at
Disney's Contemporary Resort and Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Disney's Polynesian Village Resort is not listed as an option at this point. But since the other two resorts are a short monorail ride away, it won't take you long to get to either location.
When taking off from either resort, you'll have access to both Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake. The bridge that connects the two bodies of water is an overpass, with the roadway underneath. You will not need to navigate under any bridge. There are various no-wake zones that you need to be aware of as well as restricted areas that you need to stay away from. There is a map provided on each boat that details this information.
Paul, I hope you get the chance to try this experience out on your next visit! One of my favorite things about a Walt Disney World vacation is all the
fun extras that are offered across the parks and resorts. Outside of riding attractions at the parks, you can go golfing, fishing, horseback riding, or even take lessons on making sangria! The options are endless!
See ya real soon!
