What's the weather usually like in mid-December? We're planning our first trip for 2013 (I know it's WAY early). None of us have been, so I'm really excited. Also, how are the crowds? We would be there Dec. 12th - 20th. Thank you so much for any help!

    Hey there Amy!

There is no such thing as planning "too early" for your next Walt Disney World vacation!  I often plan ours out well over a year in advance.  Planning is half of the fun!

December is one of my favorite months to visit Walt Disney World.  Seeing my favorite place in the world decked out for the holidays is simply incredible.  It's like the magic is put on overdrive.  The weather in December can be quite unpredictable.  We've had vacations where we were fully bundled up on one day and in shorts a few days later.  My suggestion is to plan on packing lots of layers.  Bring a little bit of everything and keep a close eye on the forecast once it's in the 3-5 day range.

As for crowds, the first part of your visit should bring crowds on the lower side as most families are waiting for school breaks to begin before taking vacation.  I would expect the crowds to pick up towards the middle and end of your vacation, with the largest crowds starting to show up on Friday.

I hope this helps, Amy.  Please let me know if you have any other questions about planning your magical December vacation.
