Ahoy there, David!
Welcome back to planDisney! With your December sailing from Port Canaveral on the horizon, you’ve charted a magical course. I can’t think of a better way to trade in the winter chill than for sandy toes and
sunshine at Castaway Cay.
Now, while Captain Mickey doesn’t let me peek at his weather logbook, I can tell you that early December is one of my favorite times to set sail. By this time, hurricane season has typically wrapped up, and you’ll often find comfortable daytime temperatures in the mid-70s to low 80s. The sun is usually shining bright, rain chances dip compared to the summer months, and the water at Castaway Cay is still warm enough for a
splash-tacular day on the beach.
That said, Mother Nature likes to keep us guessing, so it’s always smart to be prepared. My best packing tip is to toss in a light jacket or sweatshirt for the evenings. When you’re up on deck watching fireworks (weather permitting) on
Pirate Night or catching a movie under the stars, the sea breeze can be just enough to make you feel like Olaf wishing for his “in summer” moment. I also find a light layer handy in the dining rooms, which can sometimes be on the cooler side.
I hope this paints a picture of the weather you can expect and helps you
feel more prepared as you count down the days. No matter what the thermometer says, the real forecast is sunshine, smiles, and just the right amount of Disney magic.
Sea ya real soon as summer waves goodbye and autumn magic begins to shine,
Dustin
