How is the weather in July and is it to crowded to go to WDW?

    Hi Angie,

I'll be honest, the weather in Central Florida can be hot, with high approaching the mid 90s.In addition, Florida often has afternoon rain storms (that pass by really quickly, and are usually followed by sunny skies) during the summer.  Despite these temperatures, July is peak season at Disney, with schools across the country out, and families enjoying their summer vacations.  While the parks can get crowded, Disney does a great job of offering long park hours, which enable guests extra time to see the attractions they want to.  I recommend making use of fast pass wherever possible to minimize your wait on the most popular attractions.

We almost always visit during the summer.  Some of my "tips" for dealing with the heat include:

    • Carry a portable or clip-on fan (for your stroller).  They sell fans that are attached to a water spray bottle at the parks, but these are easy to find (and less expensive) if you bring them from home.
    • Visit the parks early in the day and in the evenings, with a trip to your resort pool or a restaurant wedged in between during the hottest part of the day.  Make use of extra morning and evening magic hours if you are staying on property.
    • Carry plenty of frozen water bottles and/or juice boxes.
    • Visit one of the water parks - the heat is almost not-noticeable if you are drenched!
    • See an attraction or go on a ride that is indoors when the sun is at its hottest.   Many of Disney's attractions and shows take place inside air-conditioned venues.
    • During the summer afternoon showers are very common.  We view these as a quick way to cool off.
    • DisneyQuest at Downtown Disney is a favorite of my boys, and is completely indoors and air-conditioned.  It's a great place to escape the heat.

Whenever you travel, I hope you have a great trip!
