I would like to wear a "simplified" princess dress to Disney World for our upcoming vacation. I know adults cant wear costumes, but it's a knee-length blue skirt, red belt, yellow top type dress (snow white theme) Does it count as a costume?

Heigh-ho, Nicole! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Planning outfits for Walt Disney World Resort vacations is one of my favorite activities, so I loved reading your question.

I checked with the Magic Mirror, and he says you are going to be the fairest one of all in that great Disneybound! I’m not sure if you’ve heard about Disneybounding, but it’s a super fun way to pay tribute to your favorite characters and attractions while still adhering to the Walt Disney World Park Rules. You’re right that Guests aged 14 or older may not wear costumes, and may not impersonate any character. However, wearing an outfit in the spirit of a favorite character is totally allowed – and your dress sounds lovely!

Here’s a great story from the Disney Parks Blog featuring some fabulous Disneybounds, and if you search online you can find even more inspiration. I dressed as Belle for a Disneybound last year, and chose floral shorts, a provincial blue top, and rose earrings, along with a big blue bow for my hair. It was perfect for the parks – cool, comfortable, and in character!

Nicole, I’m not sure which parks you’re planning to visit in your Snow White inspired dress, but it would be so cute to pose by the wishing well in Epcot’s Germany Pavilion or in front of Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at Magic Kingdom Park. If you’re looking for a character experience, I’ve heard great things about Story Book Dining at Artist Point with Snow White. My daughter wore a pink and blue dress to breakfast at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall, and Princess Aurora was so excited to be her twin! It made for a magical moment and a great photo!

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
    Robyn
