Hi there, Elizabeth!
Welcome to planDisney. Your question really put a cape-tivating spin on things! Dressing up at Walt Disney World Resort is always tempting, especially on Halloween. However, outside of special events like Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, the
costume guidelines are a little more hocus-focus.
For Guests ages 14 and older, costumes (including that dashing cape) are not permitted during normal operating hours. But don’t hang up your hero dreams just yet! You can wear attire inspired by your favorite character. Think of it as DisneyBounding, which is basically styling everyday clothes in a way that nods to your favorite character’s look. A short cape worn as part of an outfit might sound enchanting, but if it resembles a full costume, Cast Members may kindly ask you to stow it away faster than you can say “Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo.” Or as Edna Mode would say:
NO CAPES! But the Cast Members will be much nicer!
If you’re attending
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party later that evening, you’ll be free to let your costume soar to new heights (yes, short capes are allowed for the event). Until then, keep your look whimsical but “inspired by,” and save the full-on cape crusade for the party.
I hope this helps you fly through your Halloween planning without a hitch! If you need more tips on DisneyBounding or the official costume guidelines, we're always hEAR to help!
Have the most fang-tastic visit,
Emille
