Can I wear a costume on Halloween?

    Hi Armando!

Welcome to planDisney. With a Halloween visit to the Happiest Place on Earth just a few days away, you must be getting so excited. The happy haunts are out to play this year, from the iconic giant Mickey pumpkin on Main Street to Jack Skellington taking over Haunted Mansion Holiday. As Scar likes to say, it's always good to "be prepared!", so let's take a look at your question.

While I know this may not be the news you are hoping to hear, I do hope it's helpful as you put the finishing touches on your plans. Standard costume rules apply for Guests visiting Disneyland Park and California Adventure on October 31st, as they do every day of the year. Costumes may not be worn by Guests 14+. For Mouseketeers 13 and under, costumes are allowed, but masks may not cover the entire face and must allow for full visibility.

The exception here is if you have tickets to attend the Oogie Boogie Bash at California Adventure that evening, which has its own list of costume guidelines and allows for a bit more flair. In this instance, all Guests are permitted to be in costume, as long as they are family-friendly, do not contain sharp edges, and do not drag on the ground. Guests 14+ are allowed to wear capes as long as they do not go past the waist, along with acceptable accessories such as tutus, Lightsabers, wings, and headware, as long as it does not cover your face. The same standard rules apply for masks, which are not permitted for Guests 14+ but are for those 13 and under, as long as eyes are visible and the mask does not cover the entire face.

Armando, are you still with me? That was a lot to take in all at once! I did go ahead and ask a Cast Member if Guests attending the Oogie Boogie Bash are permitted to enter Disneyland Park that day in costume, and they confirmed they would need to remove any elements that do not fit within the standard guidelines. I hope this hasn't put a damper on your ghoulishly fun time in the parks!

The good news is that there is a lot of festive fun to enjoy. I recommend taking a look through the Disney Parks Blog Halloween Foodie Guide to take advantage of any limited-edition sweets and treats before they disappear! And of course, you'll want to check out the Entertainment Schedule so you don't miss the Halloween Screams projection and fireworks show above Sleeping Beauty Castle in its final performance of the year.

I'm wishing you a magical visit, Armando! If you have any more questions, we are always here for you at planDisney!
