Can you wear your costume into Disneyland (not CA Adventure) on the same day you have tickets for the bash? We are dressing as Han & Leah and want to go into Galaxies Edge. We did this in 2019 but things change or have changed post pandemic.

    Bright Suns, Charles!

Welcome to planDisney! I’m so happy to hear that the Force was with you and that you were able to grab some tickets to the Oogie Boogie Bash with your partner. One of the best parts of attending the Oogie Boogie Bash is getting to dress up as your favorite characters—I love seeing everyone’s creativity shine at the event!

To help answer your question, I revisited the costume guidelines for special events. Normal park rules state that guests aged 14 and older may not wear costumes. According to those guidelines, full costumes typically aren't allowed. However, many guests enjoy “Disney Bounding.” This is where you use everyday clothing, styled in a way that channels a Disney character without wearing a full costume. The Disney Parks Blog offers great examples, especially for Star Wars Bounding, that you may find helpful. When Disney Bounding, it’s important to stick to regular clothes and avoid masks or long, dragging capes. This is a great way to create a versatile outfit for both parks.

That said, these costume guidelines don’t apply in the same way during the Oogie Boogie Bash. I can’t say for certain how much flexibility will be allowed earlier in the day, since you're visiting on a day the Bash is happening. Ultimately, the final decision rests with the Cast Members on site.

When I attended the Oogie Boogie Bash a couple of years ago, I brought a bag with my full costume and changed at California Adventure before the event started. If you have a more elaborate costume that goes beyond Disney Bounding, I’d recommend doing something similar.

Don’t forget, Charles, your event ticket includes admission to California Adventure Park three hours before the party begins (no reservation or additional park ticket needed). This is a perfect time to enter the park, grab your credentials, and create your game plan!

Charles, I hope this was the information you were looking for. Please feel free to write back to me or any of my fellow panelists if you have more questions. We’re always ready to guide you in the ways of the Force for your next Disney adventure.

May the Force be with you!
