We are going to WDW 9/6/08. My 4 yr old has a life threatening blood disorder, and often needs a platelet transfusion. Would you suggest setting something up ahead of time should he need one during that time? Where is the closest peds hospital? Thanks!

    Hi Mary Beth,

Florida's Children's Hospital at Florida Hospital has a phenomenal hematology department.  I personally had experience with my child when she was 7 she needed acute respiratory care.  The general contact number is 407-303-KIDS (5437) for the Florida's Children's Hospital.  I always carried a copy of my daughters medical chart inclusive of all recent treatments.  This was particularly helpful when she was in acute need of care.  It allowed us to bypass the evaluation stage of treatment.  I would ask your pediatrician if he/she has any contacts at the facility or if he/she could contact the facility in the event of an emergency.  The hospital is located in Orlando on East Rollins St., I believe its been a while.  I hope you and your little one have a magical journey to Walt Disney World!!!
