Hi Becky!
Well, your 5-year-old daughter is a princess after my own heart! Cinderella is my favorite!
But, I totally get where your 8 year old daughter is coming from, too. I have 10 nieces, and one of them just really never got into the whole "princess" scene. So, instead, she had lots of fun dressing up as a PIRATE! In fact, your daughter could even go to "
The Pirates League" which is located right outside Pirates of the Caribbean attraction in Adventureland at the Magic Kingdom! There, she will be transformed into a Pirate Empress, getting a makeover and Pirate training from the Disney Cast Members! Who needs to transform into a Princess at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique when you can get your own Pirate name!
If that's a little too far off the Princess theme, then she may consider a couple of my other favorite Disney Characters: Mulan, who had a really cool "warrior" costume, Pocahontas, and Jane from "Tarzan". I just adore the adventurous spirit of each of these female Disney Characters!
If she doesn't care about dressing up as a character at all, then let her shop for a new T-shirt or outfit in Downtown Disney or in the Parks. There are so many cute things from which to choose, and she will be so happy to have the opportunity to pick something out all on her own!
Have a wonderful time in Walt Disney World!
