we will be at WDW the week following thanksgiving. i have read many posts about in room sitters, but i need to know if scheduling a sitter needs to be done ahead of time or after we arrive? and do we call them on our own? we are staying at the Carribean.

Hi Kelly!  I just happened to call for a sitter for my grandson last night!

If you know a specific date and time when you will need a sitter I suggest you call ahead and make that reservation.  You don't have to call months ahead unless it is a holiday but I suggest a couple of weeks.  I also then like to reconfirm a couple days ahead to make sure nothing has slipped through the cracks.

I use the Kids Nite Out sitting service and have used them for years. We have been very pleased as they come prepared to play and entertain with games and other activities.  We usually provide the sitter with a dummy key that doesn't have charge privileges and then she can stroll or walk around the resort for changes of scenery.  If you are in a resort that has room service we usually use this for meals.  If you are in a resort that only has food courts you can provide for those needs with cash.

The sitters will not be allowed to bathe or take children to the pools for safety reasons.

You will need to make the call on your own.  Kids Nite Out numbers are 1-800-696-8105 or 407-828-0920.
They will be happy to answer all your questions and will do their best to make a good match between your children and the sitter they send to your room.
