Hi Michelle,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for asking us a question!
I’ve travelled with several friends and family members with mobility issues who’ve needed scooters and/or wheelchairs in order to get around. One of the best resources I’ve found is the
Services for Guests with Mobility Disabilities webpage. There, you’ll find lists of all of the various attractions and the types of access that each one requires.
I’m not sure what your mobility level is but, based on what you’re saying about being able to step in and out of a vehicle, your “safest” bets would definitely be attractions that allow you to stay in your scooter (called an “Electric Conveyance Vehicle” or ECV in Disney-speak). Those are the attractions in the “May Remain in Wheelchair/ECV” list.
That being said, I wouldn’t cross the other attractions off the list yet! Even ones that require some kind of transfer may be accessible to you, depending on how the ride vehicle is configured. I would highly recommend speaking to the Cast Member stationed at the attraction’s entrance if you have any questions about how the loading/unloading process works. They may be able to accommodate you better than you’d think!
I hope my answer helps put your mind at ease about your visit to Walt Disney World Resort this November. If we can help you plan your vacation further, or answer any other questions about how to navigate Walt Disney World Resort with a mobility disability, please don’t hesitate to come back and see us.
Have a Magical Day,
Lynne
