I am going to WDW from the UK for Xmas! I am so excited. Want to book the California Grill on Christmas Day for dinner. The fireworks are at 10pm. What time would you recommend for a dinner reservation? Also, what are my chances of getting a window seat?

Hi Theresa! Christmas and the holidays are some of my favorite times at Walt Disney World! There are so many wonderful things going on to see and to experience that the added crowds don't seem to really matter.

California Grill will be a sought after reservation and especially for the actual day of Christmas. Be sure you are ready to make that call or get on line at your reservation date.  Since it has been closed for refurbishment for a few months many guests will want to experience the "new" restaurant.  Timing is the hardest thing to figure out when making a reservation there. I suggest you aim for a time around 8pm for dinner. That will give you two hours to get a table to view the Magic Kingdom fireworks at 10pm.  Many guests wish to do the same thing so the backup to be seated can get quite long.   If for whatever reason you are not seated at your table you are always welcome to enjoy the show outside on the special balcony area only offered to restaurant guests that evening. Bring a wrap as at that time of year it can be a bit chilly.

Getting a window seat is a toss up chance. Obviously everyone wishes to have that kind of table. When you check in you can let the hostess know that you are requesting one and that you would be willing to wait the extra time until one opens up if that is truly what you prefer. The fireworks music is piped into the building so all guests will be able to see and hear the show but it is quite magical to have a seat next to the window for prime viewing. Unfortunately it will take a little pixie dust and luck.

    Have a magical holiday vacation!
