I believe you are referring to
Characters in Flight, a new hot air balloon experience located at Downtown Disney. This wonderful addition to Downtown Disney is a fabulous way to get a birds-eye view of the entire Disney area. I went on the balloon during my family's most recent trip, and was able to see parts of all four of the theme parks. My kids absolutely loved the ride, and can't wait to try it again!
The operation of the Characters in Flight hot air balloon attraction are:
10:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Sunday - Thursday
10:30 a.m. to midnight Friday - Saturday
It's important to note that Characters in Flight is very dependent on appropriate weather conditions, and on windy days, operation can be curtailed or suspended. I recommend going as early as possible during the day for the shortest wait times and best chance of flying!
