Hi Gary,
Every month is a great month to visit Walt Disney World, but May is one of my favorites. The weather is usually gorgeous, and EPCOT's International Flower & Garden Festival is in full swing. If you've stayed at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort before you know you are in for a treat, especially when it comes to meals. I hope you are able to make reservations to both
'Ohana and
Kona Cafe. The bread pudding at 'Ohana is delicious (and I don't even usually like bread pudding), and although everyone raves about Tonga Toast at Kona Cafe, I love the Macadamia Nut Pancakes. Plus, you'll be able to enjoy the much loved Dole Whip any time at
Pineapple Lanai.
Now that Magical Express is no longer available, many guests are asking how to get to from the airport to their Disney Resort Hotel. There is no one "preferred" option right now, but there are several choices, and I'm sure you'll find the one that works best for your party.
Although Magical Express is not running, Mears, the company that managed Magical Express offers a similar motorcoach bus experience now known as Mears Connect. The Sunshine Flyer is another motorcoach service with buses themed as vintage railroad cars.
Depending on your party size, ride share services like Uber and Lyft are another option. Keep in mind that for safety reasons, Uber and Lyft drivers cannot have passengers ride in the front seats of cars at this time, so the capacity for a regular ride share is typically 3 for a standard car and 5 for larger vehicles.
You also may want to consider hiring a private car service. They are more affordable than you might think, and often your trip can include a quick stop at a local grocery store for snacks, water, or toiletries that you might not have packed, especially if you tend to travel with only carryon luggage.
I'm assuming that you aren't even thinking about renting a car to have during your stay, but that's another option as well.
Hope this helps. Have a magical vacation!
Diane
