We are going to WDW for our 1st time. What is the average travel time from the animal kingdom to the campground. We are attending the Mickeys Backyard BBQ and want to make sure we leave the park in time.

    Hi Heather!

Congratulations on your upcoming, First Visit to Walt Disney World!
How exciting for you and your family!

You're going to just love Mickey's Backyard BBQ.
The average travel time by bus from Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park up to The Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort is about 20 minutes, not including possible wait time for your bus to arrive. It is always recommended that you allow up to 60 minutes for travel time including waiting for your bus to arrive, travel itself and any walking to your destination.

Since you ideally want to check in 15 minutes prior to your reservation time at Mickey's Backyard BBQ, I'd recommend that you plan to be finishing up in Animal Kingdom and heading towards the front gates 75 minutes prior to your reserved time. This should allow you to relax while you walk and travel at a leisurely pace to your destination. After all, isn't that what vacation is all about? Relaxing and enjoying! Upon arrival in the Fort Wilderness Resort area, you'll want to disembark at the Settlement Depot bus stop. If you arrive early, enjoy spending some time wandering around exploring the Tri-Circle-D Ranch.

Thanks so much for visiting the Moms Panel with your great question Heather.
I hope you'll visit me again soon with more questions or requests for recommendations for your upcoming trip!

Wishing you a simply Magical vacation at Walt Disney World!
