Hello Toni and thanks for bringing such an important question to us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel.
Recycling and cutting down on plastic waste is such a globally current conversation right now and I'm delighted to share that
Walt Disney World Resort is certainly doing it's bit for the environment by committing to planet friendly choices right across Disney property such as ensuring by mid-2019 to eliminate all single use plastic straws and plastic stirrers in all their owned and run locations. This
globally green promise should amount to an annual reduction of more than 175 million straws and 13 million stirrers!
I love that my favourite company is making such important choices for the health of our entire planet and at home I've made my own personal commitment to cut down on plastic waste by only using
re-useable shopping bags. I keep re-usable bags in my car and I even have a small pack-away one in my purse! To the very best of my current knowledge the
Stores at Walt Disney World Resort still supply Guests with plastic shopping bags but I'm happy to say that back in July 2018 the
Disney Parks Blog posted that Disney Expands it's Environmental Commitment By Reducing Plastic Waste which includes details of the plans to reduce the number of plastic shopping bags used over the next few yEars and outlines that in the future Guests will be provided the opportunity to purchase nominally priced re-useable bags. Which is superb news for all the inhabitants of planet earth - from mice to mankind!
Have a great & green Disney day.
