We are going to WDW in september with an 8 month old babay, whats a good technique to keep him from fussing alot on the airplane?

I am Mom to a little princess and we logged many, many flight miles when she was an infant.  Keeping a baby happy and tear-free on flights can be a daunting task, and sometimes can be impossible, so please don't stress too much if you are unsuccessful in achieving a "fuss-free flight."

I know from experience that rapidly fluctuating cabin pressures can cause little one's ears to pop and clog which can be a source of fussiness.  Be sure to encourage swallowing on takeoff and descent whenever possible.  Offering a bottle, sippy cup or paci during these times is a great way to keep those tiny ears from popping which equals a happy baby.  If your baby happens to be asleep during these times, don't feel the need to wake him...he'll be fine.

Also, it helps to keep baby as hydrated as possible, since dehydration occurs pretty rapidly in flight.  Try to get him to drink as much as possible and if need be, ask the flight attendants to heat a bottle or sippy cup for you. A warm drink can be really soothing.

I also recommend packing some new toys that he hasn't played with before!  The novelty of these fun, new items will grab his attention for a little while, and when that wears off, play some soft and familiar tunes that you've pre-loaded on your MP3 player for him, by sharing your earphones.

It is also wise to request an aisle seat so you can get up and walk the aisles with him if needed! Sometimes a simple change of scenery can do the trick in an instant!  And at the end of the day par yourself on the back, and just remember that he won't be the first babe to cry on an airplane and certainly not the last!

    Best Wishes,
