Hello!! We are going to WDW in September with a large group (20) in 2 rooms. Will the dining plan be linked to each person or to each room? Do we need to track total points per room or per person?

Hey, Michele, and welcome to planDisney. With Dining Plans back at Walt Disney World Resort the game has changed on where to eat. When we purchased dining plans we found ourselves at more expensive locations such as Character Dining Experiences. Your large group is going to have a blast eating your way around the "World." You may want to contact Walt Disney World Resort about helping with dining for large groups.

Dining Plan credits are attached to the room and the room has a defined number of Guests. Let's make it simple. You have two rooms with 10 people in each room. The meal and snack credits are pooled or stacked by room. If your group purchases the Disney Quick-Service Dining Plan each guest (three years and older) receives per night of stay:

    • 2 Quick-Service Meals
    • 1 Snack/Nonalcoholic Drink
Now in one room multiply the credits by 10 and you have 20 Quick-Service Meals and 10 Snacks. Double this number because you have two rooms of 10 for a total of 40 Quick-Service Meals and 20 Snacks per night.

Because all credits are pooled you will need to keep track of the number used as these credits can be used anytime during the Resort stay up until 11:59 PM on checkout day. Fortunately, Disney helps keep track of your meal credits through the My Disney Experience App, also noted on your last meal receipt, and from Cast Members at the Resort Concierge and Guest Services locations.

If you have snack credits at the end of your trip be sure to load up on Mickey Crispy Treats or other Snack credit qualified items to have a bit of Disney deliciousness at home.

Michele, I hope this information helps your incredible group eat well at “Place Where Dreams Come True.” Please feel free to write me back directly for other Disney vacation planning tips.

    Enjoy making many Magical Memories.
