Mom and Daughter at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort Room

    Be in WDW Sept 09. Have DS7 & DD5. DD not the princess-y type. Trying to decide: Ohana's for breakfast or Chef Mickey's for early dinner for a character meal. Any advice? How does meeting characters compare?

    Hi there Nicole!

    I honestly don't think you can go wrong with either breakfast at Ohana or dinner at Chef Mickey's for your non-princess-y daughter.  I would base your decision on a few factors:

    • First, are you more of a breakfast clan or dinner family?  My kids are not huge morning people (or eaters) and while they love seeing their character pals at breakfast, I often wonder if we get our money's worth with the seven cheerios, one bite of bagel and three sips of OJ they generally consume.  At dinner, on the other hand, I usually have to remind them that, while it is an "all-you-care-to-eat" buffet, it would be nice to leave some food for the rest of the guests!
    • Second, are you fans of family-style feasts (Ohana) or buffets (Chef Mickeys).  At Ohana, your family's breakfast will come out on large platters, that can be replenished until you pop a few buttons.  At Chef Mickey's you'll need to get up to make your selections.  There is a huge variety of choices at Chef Mickey's that tend to satisfy just about everyone.  There's also very popular "dessert bar" that my kids swear is the best at Disney.
    • Next, who does your daughter prefer to spend her meal with?  Ohana features Lilo, Stitch, Mickey and Pluto.  Chef Mickeys features Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Donald and Goofy for dinner.  (Characters are subject to change without notice, but these are the current line-ups.)

    If I absolutely had to pick, I'd vote for Chef Mickey's because, in my opinion, it is the quintessential character meal at Disney World.  Plus, Mickey looks really cute in his "Chef outfit!"
