Does WDW Rise of the Resistance offer Rider Switch at this time?

    Bright Suns Jessica!

Thank you for using the Disney Parks Moms Panel. It is exciting to hear that you will be traveling to a galaxy far far away very soon. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is a fun filled land where you are able to create and experience your own adventure. On my most recent trip to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, I was on my own single adventure. However, being a mom to a thrill-seeking 5 year old, and a very small 2 year old, I knew rider switch would be a must! After speaking to the Gatherers at the front of the entrance, it was confirmed that families with adventurers under 40’’ (102cm), or those who fear the adventure, could take advantage of Rider Switch.

Currently the ride, Rise of the Resistance, is using boarding groups. Dependent on your landing date, the virtual queue may or may not be in use. As, your landing date approaches, you can check the My Disney Experience Mobile App to verify if the use of Boarding groups is taking place, as well as ask a fellow Gatherer. In order to use Rider Switch, the entire party must first be in a boarding group. Once your boarding group begins boarding, you can then tell the Gatherer at the front of the attraction that you will be using Rider Switch. They will then create the accommodations needed for those ready to venture, and those who will venture upon the return of the first group of explorers.

While waiting for your boarding group, or the rest of your party to return, there are so many fun areas of the land to explore! My personal favorite thing to do is snack! What I enjoy doing while waiting, is grabbing a delicious treat and soaking in all the sights and smells around me. I recommend tasting the sweet savory popcorn made at Kat Saka’s Kettle and locating the different Star Wars Photo Opportunities. Photo’s are great for all ages and a fun way to preserve your memories from the adventure you partook in that day! Be sure to check out Memory Maker it’s a great addition and a must for my family.

Safe travels as you journey to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge!
