Which WDW race would you recommend as a runner's first race? I have run recreationally for a while but have not raced. Would like to do the Princess Half but am also considering the TOT 10mi. Also, I will be running alone. Will I feel out of place?

    Hi Kim!

This is a tough question because I truly love all of the races!

First, you will not feel out of place. There are many runners out there running solo.  I have run in several races by myself and enjoyed them just the same.  There is something to be said for going at your own pace and taking in all of the sights and sounds!  I have a cousin that ran by herself in one and made a new friend along the way.  They finished together and still keep in touch!

The Princess is a good first one since it is geared toward women, but the Tower of Terror is a great one too, if you feel like you don't want to wait until next year.  Also, think about if you prefer running in the morning (like Princess) or at night (like Tower of Terror and Wine and Dine Half).  Both the Tower of Terror and the Wine and Dine start at 10 p.m. and have post-race parties.  That may factor into your decision as well.

I am glad that the Princess was my first race. I liked that it was mostly females and there was a whole lot of "girl-power" going around!   I also loved being able to run through Cinderella Castle.   My absolute favorite race, now,  is the Wine and Dine.  I like it because it goes through three of the Disney Parks, and I actually like to run at night.  (Princess goes through two)  Tower of Terror would be a good starting race since it is 10 miles instead of 13.  It is also a lot of fun, with a large part of the race being inside of Hollywood Studios.

I hope this helps you!  Please let me know if you want any more information about any of them as you make your decision.
