Going to WDW with my parents and my husband and I have our park tickets on my Apple Wallet ready to scan. However, my dad is joining us for one day at HS. In the Disney app my mom shared my dads pass with me via text. Will I be able to scan my dads ticket?

Hi there Julia, and welcome to planDisney! Thank you so much for sending us your question. It sounds like you’re planning a wonderful family visit to Walt Disney World Resort. With your dad joining the fun for a day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, it’s a great idea to make sure his ticket is ready to go so everything goes smoothly when you arrive at the park.

You will be able to scan your dad’s ticket, but it depends on how it was shared with you. When your mom sent the ticket via text, the message most likely included a link that either allows you to open the ticket in the My Disney Experience app or add it directly to your Apple Wallet. Simply having the text itself as a screenshot won’t be enough at the turnstiles, since Disney’s system needs to scan the ticket from the app or Wallet.

If your mom sent a link, and you add the pass to your Apple Wallet, you can hold your phone up to the tapstile the same way you do with your own ticket. If you choose to open it in the My Disney Experience app, it should show up under “Tickets and Passes” and you can scan it from there. Either option works for park entry and for Lightning Lane entrances.

The most important thing is confirming that the ticket shows up in one of those two places on your phone before you get to the park. If it is not appearing, your mom can link your dad’s ticket to your account through the Family & Friends list in the My Disney Experience app. Once you are connected as Family & Friends, she can assign your dad’s ticket to you as a managed guest or share it so that you can handle scanning and reservations on his behalf. It also makes things smoother if you plan to book Lightning Lanes or dining reservations together, since Family & Friends sharing keeps everyone linked.

Julia, I hope this gives you peace of mind as you get ready for your day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios with your family. Once your dad’s ticket is linked and ready in your app or Apple Wallet, you’ll be set to scan him in and enjoy the magic together without any hiccups. Thank you for visiting planDisney with your question, and I wish you a smooth park entry, lots of laughter, and a day filled with unforgettable memories at Walt Disney World Resort!
