We have never been to wdw before and one of my main concerns is a great pool area for the kids. I want a resort that is geared directly to the children. Suggestions?

Depending on your budget you can have many great choices for a resort that would fit your needs.  The All Star resorts and Pop Century have amazing decorations among the buildings that children are drawn too and will remember....large guitars, sports balls, etc.  However, these are value resorts and the pools are not as elaborate and themed as some of the other higher end resorts.

For the mid priced resorts I would recommend the Caribbean Beach resort as they have just remodeled their pool area and it is amazing with slides and other features.

Probably considered by many as the best pool facility on property is the Yacht and Beach Club resorts.  This pool area is known as Stormalong Bay and it has sandy bottomed areas, zero entry for the little ones, slides, and many many great water features.

The Yacht Club resort and Coronado Springs both will often have many convention guests, however, all Disney resorts are geared to the kids no matter what. Check the disney website, www.disneyworld.com and also www.allears.net to see comparisons in all categories to help you make your decision.
