Hi there, Rachel, and welcome back to planDisney!
As sad as I am to possibly never hear the words "Let's go get that dino" after the beloved
DINOSAUR closes, I am incredibly excited for the upcoming Tropical-Americas-themed land that will transform the attraction into an Indiana Jones ride. I also can't hardly wait to venture through the Pueblo Esperanza (“Village of Hope”) and--finally--take a tour of Casita from the movie
Encanto. As of now, there haven't been any announcements about when DINOSAUR and the other DinoLand U.S.A. attractions at
Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park will close to make way for the new land. However, as you've heard, it is a sure thing that they will be no more very soon. At D23 last summer, it was announced that construction would start this fall and progress in phases.
It is officially fall 2024, and I haven't seen any visible construction yet (except for the wall that has been there since the closing of Primeval Whirl). We could get news at any moment, but right now, DINOSAUR is still kicking. I tried riding it one last time a week ago, but it was temporarily down. I, too, hope that I can take a ride back in time before it closes for good.
I have a gut feeling that DINOSAUR will still be open during your vacation. There's usually a good month or so heads up before experiences close; I'm wishing on a star that it works out for your crew, Rachel! The
Disney Parks Blog will be your go-to source for any news about impeding closures. Also, feel free to
give us a holler here at planDisney. Any of the panelists will be more than happy to share our tips and tricks with you.
Magic always,
LeAndra
