We are going to WDW in Oct or dec. We may possibly add on a cruise. This is really our first disney experience and wonder if we should do the parks and the cruise on separate trips? Our kids are 7 and 5. Their cousin will be 9.

    Hi, Anne!

Those are great questions to ask yourself as you consider your options for a Disney vacation -- you certainly can't go wrong with the choice of surf, turf or both!

I encourage you to examine how you like to vacation. Do you like excitement and action and you get bored if there's not a plan? The parks may be exactly your cup of tea -- in fact, a spinning cup more like it! However, if you love the thought of a pixie-dusted vacation with just the right amount of rest, relaxation and a case of the "no-where-to-be's" -- then, a Disney Cruise Line ship could be smooth sailing for you.

Of course, many guests enjoy the best of both worlds by combining a Walt Disney World visit with a voyage on Disney Cruise Line. Karen explains this Surf & Turf vacation option best -- click on the link to get her advice. My only caveat is that you have to be aware going into a two-part vacation that there will be a lot of "getting there" -- packing, traveling, unpacking, repeat. When I'm at the parks, I have the mindset of planning everything to the park days, meals, bathroom breaks and souvenir shopping. Yet, on a Disney ship, I tend to sit back and let things unfold for me. It's harder for me personally to switch gears. Therefore, I prefer a long Disney Cruise with an equally long visit to the Disney Parks at another time of year!

Maybe that has helped you navigate the waters of planning a Disney vacation! Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation -- no matter which you choose. Bon voyage!
