Going to WDW Oct 7 - 12 with my 7 & 8 y.o. boys. I booked an Illuminations private boat tour and now Disney announced an added Fantasmic on the same night. Which would you recommend if we can only do one or the other?

Hi Tracy! I am very partial to Illuminations in EPCOT. It is one of my favorite fireworks/laser shows in all of the parks.  I try to include an Illuminations cruise on every trip since I enjoy it so much.  The cruise will take you on a ride down to the front of Hollywood Studios and seeing it all lit up at night is beautiful.  You then return to the area under the International Gateway bridge where you sit to enjoy the show.  A word of caution is if the wind is blowing in your direction the embers and ash will also blow toward you. Ask your driver for pairs of goggles if this is the case.

If your boys are really into the characters then the Fantasmic show might be more fun for them. It is a bit of a story involving many Disney names with great fireworks and other affects in the show.  This is such a personal choice...my grandson loves Illuminations and not so much Fantasmic but so many other children prefer the opposite.  Think about your own son's interests and what makes them smile when they are at Disney and try to choose the best option for them.  Either way you will have a great evening!
