Hey Amanda, welcome to planDisney!
Although no official plans have been announced at this time, New Year’s Eve celebrations usually take place in Magic Kingdom and EPCOT. Visiting these parks on New Year’s Eve does not require a special event ticket; however, the theme parks might be busier due to the holiday celebration.
If your ticket requires a theme park reservation, I recommend making your reservation as soon as possible.
In previous years, Magic Kingdom had DJs and dance parties throughout the park, even right in front of Cinderella Castle! Magic Kingdom usually shows
Fantasy in the Sky fireworks on December 30 and 31st, these fireworks end with a countdown to midnight with Mickey and friends. In the past, the fireworks were shown twice on each day, perfect if you or anyone in your party don’t want to stay up until midnight!
In EPCOT, several pavilions in the World Showcase have New Year’s festivities, including music and dance parties. I love that you can celebrate the New Year several times as it arrives in each country’s time zone. The fireworks also included a countdown to midnight, although it was only shown once at the official countdown to the New Year.
Since it is your birthday celebration, how do you want to bring in the new year, Amanda? Since your arrival date is a few days earlier, maybe you can visit Magic Kingdom on December 30th and EPCOT on December 31st! If you’re spending your birthday in Walt Disney World, I don’t think there is any wrong choice! Keep an eye on
Disney Parks Blog and Walt Disney World social media for any official news about upcoming New Year’s Eve plans, as they may differ from previous years.
