Hi Janet,
You have certainly chosen a wonderful time to go to Walt Disney World. I love traveling there during that time. The crowds are typically lower as it is in between school holiday breaks and the weather is nice and mild.
There are also a few things going on. You may be able to catch the end of the
International Food and Wine Festival over at Epcot. You'll be able to taste the amazing flavors of chefs from all over the world as well as some amazing wines and other tasty beverages. There is no additional ticket needed for this event, but the food booths are an additional cost. While the dates have not been officially announced, historically, it ends around the 9th or 10th, however, this is not guaranteed. Be sure to check back as it gets closer.
The holiday decorations will be going up at the beginning of November, so you'll be able to get in the holiday spirit a little early.
Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party typically begins around the same time that the food and wine festival is ending. So, you may be able to experience both! This unique party occurs after the Magic Kingdom closes for the regular day. It does require a separate ticket, but well worth it in my opinion. There is a special parade, fireworks and you get to see the characters in their holiday attire, not to mention complimentary cookies and hot cocoa!
Again, as the dates have not been announced for 2014 just yet, they tend to come out late spring or early summer, so keep an eye on the links I shared with you or check the
Disney Parks Blog, as they will also be a great source of information.
Happy planning and be sure to stop by with more questions.
