Going to WDW in Nov. I've made several advance dining reservations but, for budgetary reasons, am thinking of scaling back. What are the character dining experiences we absolutely shouldn't miss with our 3 and 5 yr old girls after Cindy's Royal Table?

I love Chef Mickey character dining for the best all around meet and greet with the popular Disney characters such as Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Donald, and Goofy!  You can often see all of them in this one spot and the location is open, bright, and buffet table very good!

My second choice is a bit different but it is still fun for the young ones and that is Mickey's Backyard Barbecue at Fort Wilderness. The plus to this event is that the kids can get up and dance and be right next to their favorite character all night.  A live country band plays and the atmosphere is anything but dull.  I also like the idea of going early and letting the kids visit the Disney stables where the horses are kept that you see in the Magic Kingdom and parades.  If you are lucky the blacksmith might also be fitting one of the great steeds with new shoes.
